    This article attracts my attention at once when I saw the word “Shrek”. I am very excited because I loved it very much when I was still studying in primary school. It was an indispensable part of my childhood. Reading through the whole article, I’m willing to express own feelings. This article describes the arguments between DreamWorks and Disney, but in other way, outstanding and successful cartoon products were created by competition. No competition, no Shrek, no unique childhood.   From another aspect, Katzenberg skillfully and successfully used an entertaining, animated fairy tale to beat his opponent. It’s true that he created a blockbuster hit, to attain sweet justice. Meanwhile, Disney also wanted to compete with DreamWorks and copied its form but in vain. However, I think the most important thing was that impressive cartoons could be created to fulfill our childhoods. I am now really honored that I appreciate these splendid films regardless of DreamWorks or Disney.

   Freeman John Dyson is an English-born man whose occupation is theoretical physicist and mathematician. He was born in Berkshire in 1923. Dyson works hard and gains great achievements in many fields. He was best known for his career in quantum electrodynamics, astronomy and nuclear engineering. Dyson is well-known because he is a member of the Board of Sponsors of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.

Response to “Insights from a Cinderella Story”

“Insights from a Cinderella Story”, this article tells about the ever after a Cinderella story. I fully understand how indispensable elements are in stories. And looking through the whole article, what I appreciate most is the final sentence. Cinderella story is a kind of classic story which includes many representative elements. It’s absolutely right that we readers can use familiar analysis models when we start looking at familiar stories as wisdom tales.

These traditional and classical tales have many elements in common. Thus, there are many elements have their own meanings. For example, regarding as the Cinderella story from this article, I find that royalty in a fairy tale may represent the sacred realm and The stepmother is a marvelous symbol for harshness and so on. Therefore, we will form a fixed impression of stepmothers, royalty and other elements. Maybe sometimes we judge the same elements correctly but in some ways, we might also form stubborn thoughts leading to wrong judgments. Believe it or not, many Cinderella stories are orphan stories. I really missed this fact before because of empirical way of thinking. What I should think about needs many more aspects. Cinderella has no families because she was treated badly as a servant.

This essay explains why the marriage plot need never get old though commenting a famous book named “Madame Bovary”. What impressed me most is the difference situation between Freud, the author and Emma Woodhouse in the novel. Most readers are happy with the happy ending in novels. But in fact, Freud had a  cheerless life with being divorced for many times. The marriage plot never died because many authors may not have a great marriage as they wish in the past. They prefer to expressing their feelings in novels in order to escape from sadness from the fact. They are willing to believing the marriages actually have happy endings. Additionally, love plot has been existed since the human appeared. Love is kind of the nature of man. Therefore, marriage is regarded as the ending of man and woman makes sense. As for my own opinion , marriage plot attracts many teenagers. They make them to read more books about it.

Become what want to be

When I read this article “RuPaul is America's most trusted name in drag queens”, I found a remarkable situation where the author calls “RuPaul” with third person “she” rather than “he”. In public society at present, many people discriminate against with transvestite fetishist. But the author shows his respect to RuPaul in this way. RuPaul is a biologic man but from her own perspective, she wants to be acknowledged as a woman. Humans have their rights and freedom. Social gender actually was a kind of popular standards that accepted by most people. The people who are alternative should not be to blame. However, the fact is that space for gender-variant performers has never been large enough to be shared. RePaul is great and hardworking. She really does well in her own career and show confidence for her partners in her group. Luckily, more and more people in 21^st century accept them and that’s changing. Eventually, Chinese people should be more open and show their kindness to these people.

   After reading “Cinderella and Feminism”, it reveals one condition which didn’t be find in the past. Cinderella falls in love with a handsome prince and marries with him. Why does this result mean Cinderella complete her life? Maybe the prince just looks for the beauty and satisfies his desires, not true love. I don’t think Cinderella will get happiness. From my perspective, this kind of stories includes some wrong opinion think that women are inferior to men. Because of these stories existing in the past, many people gradually formed wrong thoughts and led to the social gender illegal for thousands of years. Many people now become aware of this wrong condition and tired their best to change the mistakes. In addition, traditional fairly stories are always includes wrong thoughts.

After reading this article “Why Women Smile”, the most attractive sentence for me is the last one. Women should smile more spontaneously, without ulterior, hidden motives. Smile is not just a couple of small muscle groups in our faces. Smile should express from people’s real heart. Smile not only express kind and happy, but also can show somebody is helpless and reluctant. Maybe someone smiles just like the second situation. From the article, We can find women particular do “artificial smile” in society. The women are under much more pressure than males. From my perspective, the people in society must be equal by all means. Gender is a kind of characteristic of human existing in society.

No one should have peculiar rights and additional power to focus others doing things which they are unwilling to do. Woman are supposed to smile were truly her own or her feelings, rather than according to what someone else needed, I hope people will learn to smile and respect others, Meanwhile, people should do what they like to do.
